Vacation

Well we just returned from camping at the Grand Canyon and outside of Zion. It was lots of fun. We met up with Alison's parents and sister and Zach was spoiled rotten in just 3 days.

Zach was in heaven. It seems that they brought lots of extra cookies just for the little boy to eat and be wowed with. He was schmoozing it up for them to be sure. From his point of view the time we were out there was heaven. He had dirt, rocks, sticks, sand, pots and pans, cookies and of course grandma and grandpa to make it all available for him at his whim. What a life for a 19 month old.

We had a lot of fun as well. The area of the Grand Canyon was called Tuweep that we visited. It is about 65 miles away from the highway via a dirt road. It was quite the journey. I would have to say the most extensive off road trip our poor luxury sedan has been on. Fortunately only 6 miles were technical driving. Some spots even a jeep would have to be careful. We did receive stares of at least moderate admiration for the cars getting in to where we were.

The first day was terribly windy. Wow it was insane. Probably averaging about 50 mph and maxing out with gusts of 70 mph or more. Setting up the tent was an adventure. I was sad that we didn't have our mountaineering tent that is convenient to set up in bad weather. We were blessed though that the wind was only bad for one day. The second day was beautiful. After that we headed up to Zion and to the Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park. Alison's parents hadn't been to Zion before and they definitely enjoyed the afternoon that we had there to hike and relax.

As is typical our child wanted to jump in the river, so we let him. He is a typical kid that unfortunately has parents that may give him a bit to much freedom to play. He had a lot of fun. The entire time in the river he followed his aunt Kaisha around an was so proud of himself.

The rest of the trip was fun and pretty uneventful. We went out of our way for Zach to have the sand dunes to play at and typical of him he wanted to play on the ramp up to the viewing area. Argh. He did have a lot of fun in the sand once his grandma got him remembering what it was all about.

Well that is what we have been up to the last week. Doctors appointments for our daughter are getting routine which may be a bad thing. However they tell us for her situation everything is continually looking better than worse. So we are blessed and happy about that.

That is all for tonight. I need to get better at a more regular pattern of posting. Night time seems to be the best for me. This is what I will shoot for...
