Opps!

So today I was doing an experiment with heavy duty acid (concentrated Nitric Acid) and I dropped about 10 ounces in my water bath, sample and all.  That was a bummer because no I have to run the sample again in duplicate and that I had a serious clean up project on my hands.  Oh well.  So to clean up I had to take all the water out of the bath, and rinse the water bath out so that the new water bath won't have concentrated acidic water sitting in there for a while.

When I had that water out then I had to neutralize it with baking soda and wait for it to react and balance out.  Once it has basically neutralized then I dump it down the drain very slowly...so I had five gallons and could do about a cup a minute with the water running full blast.   That took 3 hours.  I could dump it all at once, but this would result in our place having a spike in the acidity output into the system and we would get a huge fine...like thousands of dollars.  So I was trying to avoid that...

I also substitute taught a 6th grade group of classes at a middle school.  It was really easy, we just watched movies.  That was the plan from the teacher.  She has been out for three days because of her sick daughter.  I felt back, she seems like a great teacher but has a sick child...what is she supposed to do?

Well I am going to play with my daughter and tie some flies...then sleep.

Good night...
